Perspective in Molecular Psychiatry: ADHD and transition to psychotic disorders

A perspective by Assoc. Prof. Ali Kandeğer with Prof. Anita Thapar, Charlotte A. Dennison and Prof. Michael J. Owen of Cardiff University was published in Molecular Psychiatry on 14 October 2026.

It discusses why only a subset of people with ADHD go on to develop bipolar disorder, psychosis or schizophrenia, and sets out clinical implications for screening and monitoring, and gaps for future research. The article is open access.
