In a study led by Assoc. Prof. Ali Kandeğer and supervised by Bengi Semerci, only 34% of 214 adults with ADHD followed at the Adult Neurodevelopmental Disorders Clinic had been diagnosed in childhood or adolescence. More severe maladaptive daydreaming was associated with diagnosis being delayed until adulthood.

The abstract won an ECNP Excellence Award in 2024, and PsyPost covered the paper after publication.
