    Basic theory of mind was intact in adults with ADHD. Social anxiety and avoidance were explained by autistic traits, lower cognitive empathy and difficulties in attention switching.

    Only 34% of the sample had been diagnosed in childhood or adolescence. More severe maladaptive daydreaming was associated with diagnosis being delayed until adulthood.

    The Turkish MDS-16 and its short form MDS-5 showed good validity and reliability. Item-level analyses separated daydreaming-specific dimensions from those that overlap with ADHD.
